The building of Hong Kong International Airport in Lantau is a big threat for the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin, Chinese white dolphin, Pink dolphin, Sousa chinensis. Tai O (大澳), western side of Lantau Island, Hong Kong, China. Near Threatened, IUCN Red List, listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), “Grade 1 National Key Protected Species” in mainland China. There are four major populations in mainland China, including Pearl River Estuary, Xiamen, Beibu Bay and Leizhou. The largest population is found in the coastal areas of Pearl River Estuary, including the waters of Hong Kong and Macau. Only 61 individuals in Hong Kong.
